Okay so I’m FINALLY back this week with a review of my most recent “treat yo self” purchase: the Becca/Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector in “Champagne Pop”.
What is it? “A limited-edition, creamy, luminizing powder to illuminate the face with a soft, pearlized glow.” Retail price? $38.
This is my first high end highlighter purchase ever! So far, I’ve been relying on drug store highlighters to give me my desired glow, and it isn’t like I’ve been disappointed. I’ve been very happy with the Hard Candy baked bronzers, my Mary-Lou Manizer by the Balm, etc as my every day highlighting products. Quite frankly, I’m not one to buy many high end makeup products in the first place, but I decided that if I were to get something, I wanted it to be a highlighter.
I’ve only heard great things about the Becca Skin Perfector’s so I was already thinking about buying a highlighter from this brand. Then Jaclyn Hill collaborated and came out with this limited edition shade, so when I combined that with the fact that I was at the end of my summer vacation and hadn’t bought anything the whole trip, it provided me justification to buy it! “Treat Yo Self!”
I think this highlighter is worth every penny! Champagne pop is a “soft white gold with pinky peach undertones” and it is beautiful! It is unlike any highlighter I own or one I’ve ever seen before. The outside packing is gorgeous (I’m a sucker for gold) and there is a little blurb from Jaclyn on the back with her picture. The packaging of the Skin Perfector itself looks exactly like the rest of them and then when you open it, the clear plastic piece covering the powder has Jaclyn’s signature on it.
Here are the three main reasons why I love this product:
- Incredibly Blendable- this product blends right out, no matter how much product I use.
- Amazingly Buildable- you can have a soft, glowy highlight or you can have a crazy intense highlight if you build up the product a little. I have a new found appreciation for this because this is something I feel like I’m lacking with my drugstore highlighters.
- Super Pigmented- it is super pigmented. I can do one swipe and I already have more of a color payoff than I’ve ever had with my drugstore highlighters. And if you use this product over a cream highlight for a more intense look?…you might pass out.
I think the worst thing about this product is the realization of how much I love it and how I have a desire to buy all high end highlighters now haha. I’m not knocking my drugstore highlighters though, I will continue to use them and buy them of course! But it is nice not having to work so hard to get my desired look sometimes, you know what I mean?
Even if this shade isn’t your cup of tea, I suggest checking out Becca’s line and seeing if you can find the right one for you because they are truly amazing. If do like Champagne Pop, I suggest you buy it ASAP, as it’s a limited item and only sold at Sephora.
I know a ton of brands are coming out with highlighters now, so if you have any good recommendations, please comment below!
