Review of the Tarte “Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1″ Mascara

Hey Everyone!

This week I am going to talk about my new favorite mascara: “Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara”!!!

What does it claim to do? It’s a “lengthening, curling, volumizing, and conditioning mascara.”

Packaging? I love the color scheme, I mean, purple’s and gold’s are my life. BUT, honestly I don’t like how there is fabric around the mascara. I get it, they’re trying to stand out, do something different, blah blah blah. And it’s not like I hate the packaging or anything, it won’t stop me from buying it again. I just wish the pattern/colors were imprinted on the tube itself. There’s no need for a mascara sleeve, ya know? If I don’t have to pay $20 for it, then i don’t want to! Anyway, who cares, let’s talk about the mascara lol…

I have the worst eyelashes, I swear. My right eye is my favorite because these lashes are kind of long and behave very well, unlike my left eye, where the lashes are shorter and NEVER behave. It’s super annoying. So I’ve never really cared that much about mascara because to me, my lashes always look the same regardless of which high end or drug store mascara I use.

So I would’ve never purchased this product if it wasn’t for Ulta’s stupid 21 Days of Beauty. This mascara is originally $20 but on a certain day in March, it was on sale for $10. I had heard pretty good reviews on this mascara anyway and to get it for the price of drug store mascaras, I mean why not, right?

And unfortunately, I love this mascara. I don’t really know how to feel about this since a month ago I was perfectly content with buying $3 Wet N’ Wild mascaras for the rest of my life but after trying this, I’m not so sure.

I have to say that I definitely noticed a difference in my lashes after using this product. I think that it definitely lengthens, curls and volumizes my lashes which is amazing for me. A lot of people claim that they feel like they look like they’re wearing fake lashes after putting on this mascara which is pretty awesome. I can’t say that I feel that way myself because I have very short lashes BUT I can definitely say they’ve never looked better since trying this mascara.

As for whether it conditions my lashes? No idea. I’m not really sure how one can tell that but hey, for me, I was able to check off three of four on their list. The wand is the perfect size for me, not too big for my short lashes, and it takes out just the right amount of product, not too much! It doesn’t clump my lashes either which is something I avoid since I have short lashes.

Would I buy it again but for full price? Good question. I haven’t decided yet. As much as I like this product, this is my first high end mascara. So I’m thinking if I decide to spend that much on a mascara again, that I’m going to try several different kinds to find my holy grail mascara before settling on the first one I bought. A few months ago I bought that Too Faced “Better Than Chocolate” kit that comes with their full sized “Better than Sex” mascara and I’ve heard a ton of great reviews about that as well. So once I finish the “Lights, Camera, Lashes” mascara, I’m going to take off on my high end mascara journey and start comparing!

So overall, I hate the fact that this is normally $20 but I can’t help but love it!

If you guys have any suggestions on mascara’s you think I should try, leave your comments/suggestions below! I’ll do anything to help make these lashes look longer! I’ve been thinking that I might need to invest in an amazing eye lash curler for additional help. Mine is sooooo old and I think was my mom’s lol. So if you have suggestions for that as well, you know what to do!

Thank you for reading and chatting with Jack!

I post every Friday (well I try to!) so please follow my blog and twitter if you haven’t already!

  1. I agree that $20 is a bit much for mascara. Luckily I got this during Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty event for half the price. It’s the only high end brand I use right now (I used DiorShow a few years ago. A few bucks more than the Tarte, but it worked well.)

    1. Ah that’s what it was called. That’s how I got my hands on this mascara too! Thank you for the reminder, I updated my blog with the right name of the sale haha. But yes, $20 is a lot :/ decisions, decisions!

  2. The fabric around the tube is WEIRD to me. I’d rather have the regular plastic – it’s more sanitary to me.
I’m glad you love this mascara and it only cost you $10. Maybe next time Ulta has a sale, you can stock up!
Have you tried Prestige My Biggest Lashes? It could be a good, cheaper alternative to the Tarte mascara.

  3. The little jackets on the mascara always made me laugh! Might give it a whirl after reading this now. 🙂

  4. Nyx’s pin up tease is an amazing drug store brand that definitely defines and separates lashes. As for high end I strongly recommend Macs in extreme dimension. Great post by the way 🙂

  5. This is my current favorite mascara! Before using this I used “Better than Sex.” I liked it but the brush got really clumpy. I haven’t had that problem with Light’s, Camera, Lashes!
